We would like to appreciate all of you for being active on this page. A lot of concerns have been raised regarding the nurses and midwives not being part of the UMA strike; some of you feel let down by the Union, but we apologize for this missed opportunity to take action. We would really have loved to be part of the strike but the Labour Unions Act allows union members in this case, Nurses and Midwives to go on strike only if negotiations fail after giving the employer (Government) 90 days to respond to the demands… We couldn’t skip from negotiations to strike. It is true the implementation of the schemes of service for the nursing cadre has over tallied but we are not giving up, we are still pursuing it. This will give us a good foundation for even better lobbying and negotiations. We therefore, kindly request the nurses and midwives to be more patient with us on this matter. Thank you.
